our firm
Founded in April 2004 by Kathleen Stewart, our firm was established both to meet growing client demand and to fulfil a long-held professional ambition. With offices at 58 Frederick Street in Edinburgh, we advise clients across the United Kingdom and, selectively, overseas.
Our practice is built on over 30 years of experience in the corporate and commercial market, and our approach is always rooted in a deep understanding of each client’s business. By taking the time to gain a full appreciation of objectives and challenges, we provide solutions-led legal advice that is both practical and commercially focused.
We specialise in serving small to mid-sized commercial and corporate organisations across a wide range of industries. The firm also works in close association with other leading law practices in Edinburgh and beyond, offering clients additional strength in areas such as commercial property, employment litigation and private client services.

Price transparency:
Depending on the nature and complexity of the legal matter, below we have set out the average or typical hourly charging rates for Kathleen Stewart W.S fee earners.
Fee earner The hourly charge stated excludes VAT which is charged at 20%
Solicitor Principal £295 per hour
Travelling rate £175 per hour
The number of hours spent on a client case will be determined by the complexity and the unique circumstances of the case.
Kathleen Stewart W.S. will discuss the likely cost of the case with the client at the initial meeting or before issue of a Letter of Engagement. If additional costs arise due to unforeseen circumstances, we will discuss this with you at the earliest opportunity and the firm will advise you of any increase in cost that may arise.
The hourly rate does not include any outlays/disbursements that may be required. These are variable depending on the nature of the case. Firm staff will discuss what these may be at the initial meeting or before issue of a Letter of Engagement.
